What an adventure! I’m so thrilled to finally get to share these covers with the world. I loved my Shattered Blue cover, but Renegade Red demanded I do something truly special and innovative— something that would somehow channel the special blend of reckless adventure and lyrical magic of this newest Light Trilogy installment. I turned to my partner-in-creative-crime, my fellow artist Zoe Cope, who created the beautiful Light Trilogy jewelry collection. Zoe can create entire worlds with her amazing hands and unparalleled eye— she does with the visual what I can only attempt with my words, and her fierce, experimental energy always inspires me. Somehow, between us, a magical kind of creative innovation always combusts! Together, we produced these multiple covers for RENEGADE RED, each to channel a part of our heroine, Noa, who is a fierce female artist herself.
I provided the concepts, and Zoe masterminded everything from the sets to the casting to the shoot to the final compilation, and we snagged acclaimed fashion photographer Gil Cope to take the photos. We are so thrilled now to reveal these three covers exclusively with USA TODAY: The“POET” cover, where Noa embraces the world with all her fabulous, strange, poetry; the “WARRIOR” cover, where Noa fights to her Girl-Beast fullest; and the very special edition “TRAVELER” cover, where Noa’s soul—and the magical soul of the trilogy—Sasha, leaps us all into new and strange worlds. All of these covers will be available in Hardcover and Paperback, and will distributed by online sites and bookstores randomly, so anyone can collect all three!
